Sometime late, while most of the island was across the pond on that trip to France, a text would have come through on Michael's phone, from Connor. If he was around to get it at least.
"Hey... Micahel. How's it going? Miss me?" There might have been a small emoji smiley face and a wine glass emoji accompanying that message.
Connor stopped as he realized he was talking to the phone. With a somewhat exasperated sigh because, texting was difficult ok, he typed that all out and finally hit send.
And followed it up a second or two later with a simple "miss you " text.
. . . Michael kind of hoped he had been kissing people. He felt kind of weird about the idea that Connor might have, like, imprinted on him or was expecting more than a casual thing.
(Did Michael himself want more than a casual thing? He'd kind of convinced himself he was only ever going to have casual things. Wanting hadn't even come into his mental equation yet.)
(And casual might be fine. Anything was fine, especially when you were convinced you were nothing to anyone. Something was always better than nothing, however long it might last and wherever it might go. Long term wasn't a luxury for someone like him really if the past was any indication.)
At some point, the text message finally got sent, moreso because Connor eventually hit the send button at some point, rather than consciously ending the text before he finally passed out.
